At Tempo • Pizza • Bar • Gelato (242 High Street, Northcote), pizza is more than food — it’s family, tradition, and passion passed down through generations.

The story begins with Nonno Domenico, who grew up in Calabria and carried with him a deep respect for tradition, flavour, and the joy of sharing a meal. That love for food and family found its way to Northcote, where the family has proudly called home for decades. The family has successfully run restaurants since 1987. His son-in-law, Pietro Minniti, was recognised as Australia’s 3rd best Pizza Chef in 2014.

Now, alongside his son Domenico, the next chapter of the family’s pizza journey is unfolding. Domenico trained with world champions in Naples, perfected mother dough fermentation, and travelled across Italy, Greece, Brazil and beyond to sharpen his craft — yet it’s here on Northcote Rise where tradition meets passion.

Eleven years later, in May, Domenico was ranked among the best pizzaioli in the country at Australia’s Best Pizza Awards. Pietro & Domenico proudly hold the highest accreditation from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana in Naples, establishing a trusted reputation in Northcote, across Australia, and worldwide — all while keeping their family business cosy, simple, and unpretentious, with quality always top of mind.

From the dough — each meticulously hand stretched, preserving flavour and respecting the fermentation process — to the handmade pastas, the bar, the house-made gelato, and Cecilia’s notorious Tiramisu and meticulous quality control, Tempo • Pizza • Bar • Gelato is a place where every detail reflects family, pride, and heritage.
